Terms of service

What Telbie is
Telbie is an AI receptionist for UK small businesses. When you divert your calls to your Telbie number, an AI assistant answers in your business's name, deals with the caller, booking appointments, capturing enquiries and taking messages, then gives you a transcript and summary of every call in your portal.
These terms are an agreement between Telbie ("we", "us") and the business that opens an account ("you"). By using the service you agree to them.
Your account
Accounts are set up with you during an intro call. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access. You must be a business (not a consumer) and able to enter contracts for that business.
Trials, fees and cancellation
New customers start on a trial as agreed on your intro call. After the trial, the service is billed monthly at the plan and included minutes agreed with you in writing (usually by email). We'll always tell you the price before you're charged anything.
You can cancel at any time, with effect from the end of the current billing month. To cancel, email hello@telbie.uk . If prices change, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice first.
Using the service responsibly
You agree not to use Telbie to:
- mislead callers about who they're dealing with, or impersonate another business;
- make or facilitate unlawful, fraudulent or nuisance calls;
- breach UK marketing and privacy law (including PECR), for example by cold-calling numbers registered with the TPS;
- attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
We may suspend accounts that put callers, other customers or the service at risk.
Call transcripts and your callers
Calls answered by Telbie are transcribed rather than audio-recorded, so you can review in writing what was said. Between us: we act as your processor for call data, and you're the controller, so it's your responsibility to make sure how you use caller information complies with the law that applies to your business. Our privacy policy explains how call data is handled and protected.
What we promise, and what an AI can't
We work hard to keep Telbie answering around the clock, but no phone or AI service can guarantee 100% availability, and an AI assistant can occasionally mishear or make a mistake, which is why every call comes with a full transcript you can check. The service is provided "as is". You should not rely on Telbie as your only route for safety-critical or emergency communication; genuine emergencies belong with 999.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under English law (such as for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence). Otherwise, we're not liable for indirect losses, including lost profits, lost business or missed opportunities, and our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid us during that period.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time. We can end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or immediately if you materially breach these terms. When the account closes, call data is deleted as described in the privacy policy, and any dedicated number is released. If you'd like to port it, ask before closing.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If we make significant changes to these terms we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
